The Director of a local community care and support company is about to run the last marathon in a grueling schedule of 13 marathons in 2013.
Deepesh Patel is a founding Director at Radis Community Care and decided to take the challenge to raise money for their chosen company charities, The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund and Macmillan Cancer Support.
This weekend, he will run the Leicester Marathon and complete the challenge. The task become even tougher after several of his scheduled marathons were cancelled which meant that Deepesh has had to run the last seven marathons over the last seven consecutive weeks!
Deepesh told us:
‘I can’t believe this is my 13th and final race. The last eight months have been the most exhausting and physically demanding of my life, but I must say, they have been the most rewarding as well. This is definitely an experience I’ll never forget and to have raised so much money has made it all worthwhile!’
Radis provides care in the home to thousands of people across the country and many support workers and colleagues will be at the finish line to congratulate Deepesh on his achievement.
Leicester Branch Manager, David O’Boyle told us:
‘Deepesh has been a real inspiration and we’re thrilled that he is finishing his challenge in Leicester. He has raised thousands of pounds for two excellent causes and our staff and customers are all behind him. I’m sure there will be a few drinks to celebrate as he crosses the finish line of his final marathon!’
Radis is attempting to make 2013 their most successful fundraising year yet and they’ve already raised thousands of pounds through activities like bungee jumps, cake sales and sponsored walks.
Shaun Turner of The Care Professionals Benevolent fund said:
“The Fund supports current, former and retired care professionals who are facing financial hardship through no fault of their own.
As a benevolent fund we rely heavily upon support from within the care industry and it is fantastic that Deepesh and all the team at Radis have been so dedicated towards raising funds to support fellow colleagues who may need our help.”
