West Sussex Care Home Raises Over £850 At Christmas Fete

A care home in Steyning raised over £850 at its Christmas fete, which will go towards giving residents an extra special Christmas.

Staff, residents and relatives at Croft Meadow care home spent weeks preparing for their festive event by making items to sell.

The fete also included raffles and stalls and even Santa found time in his busy schedule to drop by, much to the delight of the children visiting.

Another special guest was “Santa Paws” – a three-year-old St Bernard called Lennard, who is a regular visitor at the home.

All proceeds from the fete will go towards making the residents’ Christmas as special as possible and will provide lots of little extras for them to enjoy.

Sharalee Thrumble, home manager at the Shaw healthcare-run home, said: “I’m so proud of everyone who made our Christmas fete such a success.

“The staff and I want the residents to have the best Christmas and we are really looking forward to making that happen for them.

“The residents have enjoyed being involved in the preparations and they have been very busy making ornaments, upcycled woodwork and cakes to sell.”

Members of the local community are also invited to visit Croft Meadow on the 16th December at 9.30am for its ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event. Booking is essential – contact 01903 814956 for further details.
