Sunrise Of Eastbourne Team Member Wins National Care Award

Sunrise of Eastbourne’s Memory Care Co-ordinator, Nancy Ivison, has won a prestigious National Care Award, after beating off stiff competition for the Resident Engagement prize.

Nancy won the award for her work to improve care quality at Sunrise of Eastbourne, support for people living with dementia, and the way in which she discusses needs and priorities with residents, making beneficial changes as a result of their feedback.

Judges praised Nancy for being “incredibly humble, and teaching new generations how to help people live well with dementia, along with asking every day what more can we do for our residents.”

Nancy’s award was presented by British comedian, novelist and television presenter, David Baddiel, who has been involved in charity work to support causes such as the Alzheimer’s Society and Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

The National Care Awards are organised by the leading social care publication in the UK, the Caring Times, which reflects the views of opinion leaders in the sector. The Awards were established to reward excellence and recognise those who have worked tirelessly to provide outstanding care.

There were 18 categories in total at this year’s event, including awards for Care Home Manager, Dementia Care Manager, Care Chef, and Care Home of the Year.

Nancy’s award for resident engagement is a reflection of the way Sunrise of Eastbourne puts residents at the heart of all care and activities, taking account of a range of individual needs.

As part of this personalised approach, the care community provides high-quality nursing care, dementia care, and assisted living.

Nancy Ivison, Memory Care Co-ordinator at Sunrise of Eastbourne, said:

“It was a great honour to receive the National Care Award for Resident Engagement, on what was a special evening in recognition of high standards in the care sector.

“I would like to pay tribute to my colleagues at Sunrise of Eastbourne for their dedication and compassion in caring for residents, who have the opportunity to live active, fulfilling lives in a vibrant setting.

“We will continue to strive every day to improve the care provided for our residents, always discussing with them their needs and interests, and ensuring our community enables them to be as happy as possible.”
