Suffolk Care Homes Celebrate The County On Suffolk Day

HealthcareHomesSix care homes in Suffolk are hosting a range of events, activities and celebrations to mark this year’s Suffolk Day.

On Friday 21st June, six of the Suffolk-based homes within the Healthcare Homes Group are marking the occasion by inviting communities to take part in special events with residents and staff to celebrate everything that is great about the county that they live in.

The group’s homes are spread right across the county from The White House in Beccles and Aldringham Court in Reydon in the North East, to Fornham House near Bury St Edmunds, Uvedale Hall in Needham Market and Hillcroft House in Stowmarket in the West, plus three homes in Felixstowe in the East.

This year’s events, which are all open to the public are:

Aldringham Court near Aldeburgh: ‘Suffolk Slides’ coffee morning from 10.30am until noon. Alex Bass will be showing a great selection of slides about the county of Suffolk, and an ice cream van will be at the home for all to enjoy.

Barking Hall Nursing Home, Barking, near Needham Market: From 11am-4pm, the home is hosting a Suffolk Feast, taking inspiration from a Suffolk recipe book to create traditional dishes from the county.

Foxgrove and Maynell House in Felixstowe: Musical therapy sessions from 2:30pm.

Handford House in Ipswich: Musical afternoon tea, accompanied by country singer Mike Reed, from 2pm-4pm

Mill Lane Nursing Home in Felixstowe: ‘Suffolk’ entertainment and food, along with afternoon tea and cakes for all to enjoy from 2:30pm

Uvedale Hall in Needham Market: Afternoon tea from 2pm-4pm, featuring traditional Suffolk rusks and cakes, accompanied by music from Gail’s Music Gaiety.

Regional Director for Healthcare Homes, Katherine Foley said, “We’re really looking forward to welcoming people into our homes to celebrate this special day for the county.

“We have enjoyed taking part in the celebrations each year and see it as a fantastic way to celebrate everything that is fantastic about Suffolk. We’re privileged to have homes located in some of Suffolk’s most beautiful locations and a great proportion of our residents have spent many, if not all of their years here, so are passionate about all it offers.

“I hope that lots of people will come along to these lovely events to meet our residents, chat to our staff, and share memories of our wonderful county.”
