Research Shows Care Home Construction On Track To Reach Five-Year High

caredementiashowThe British care home market is an attractive source of investment, with the value of construction contracts forecasted to reach a five year high in 2016. This is according to research conducted for the Care & Dementia Show as it launches a Care in Construction zone at this year’s event (11 – 12 October 2016, NEC, Birmingham).

‘The Outlook for the UK Residential Care Construction Market 2016’ research conducted by Barbour ABI revealed:

·         The total value of residential care contracts is set to reach £2.3 billion for 2016.

·         South West England is leading the way for developments, with 26% of the market share, followed by the West Midlands which accounts for 15% of contract values.

·         The top care home project in 2016 (based on construction contract value) is Kidbrook Village Care Apartments, London.

The new Care in Construction zone, running within the Care & Dementia Show, will connect care home owners with architects, construction professionals and developers working on care home projects. Visitors will find advice and guidance on care construction projects from exhibitors including Chubb Community Care, Electrolux, Intercall and Prism Medical.  They will also benefit from a free CPD certified educational programme covering issues such as supply and demand, sustainability and accessibility, with speakers from Barbour ABI, BHTA, Centre for Accessible Environments, Foundations, and Hammond Care.

Chris Edwards, Care & Dementia Show Event Director, said “We conducted the research to gain an insight into the residential care construction market, which is evolving at an enormous pace to meet the growing demands of an aging population. The findings highlight the need for a dedicated meeting place which brings care home owners together with the construction trade to address the growing demand. Through this new zone, we will provide a platform for visitors to network, plan new projects and source new products.”

The Care & Dementia Show is the UK’s largest care home event dedicated to providing industry professionals with the tools to better care for older people. Taking place from 11 – 12th October 2016 at the NEC, Birmingham, the show will attract over 2,500 attendees looking to source new products and services, share best practice and extend their network.
