Prime Minister, Theresa May MP, Visits Sunrise Of Sonning To Celebrate Caring Team Members

In her capacity as local MP, Mrs May attended Carer’s Day at the community and presented awards to two members of the team, who were celebrating 10 years of service at Sunrise of Sonning

Sunrise Senior Living of Sonning were delighted to welcome Prime Minister and Maidenhead MP, Theresa May to its special BBQ on Friday 15th June, as part of the care home’s Carer’s Day.

The day was specially organised as part of Carers Week in the UK, to celebrate all team members at Sunrise of Sonning who work hard day-in-day-out to provide high-quality care to residents. The community was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection.

Traditional food was prepared by team members from Sunrise of Sonning, and all staff below manager level were entered a raffle draw, and prizes were donated by Heads of Departments and the nursing team. Everyone happily indulged in the generous spread that was on offer, including a delicious hog roast and sports day themed games.

Theresa May MP was warmly welcomed by UK CEO, Dr. Natalie-Jane Macdonald, Associate Director of Operations Malcolm Hague, General Manager Carmela Magbitang, Director of Community Relations Sandeep Nandhra-Gourlay and the rest of the team.

During her visit, Mrs May was very happy to spend her time talking and mingling with residents, families and the team.

Mrs May also presented two special awards to the community’s Head Concierge, Wendy Ladds, and Concierge, Linda Clifton, for providing 10 years of service at Sunrise of Sonning. Wendy also presented a ‘thank you’ bouquet to Mrs May.

Carmela Magbitang, General Manager at Sunrise of Sonning, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Mrs May to our wonderful community to celebrate our amazing team. Residents absolutely loved meeting her and we are grateful for her time.

“Wendy has been with us right from the start and is a pillar of our community. She went on to recruit our amazing concierge team, including Linda, who are the first happy faces that people see as they walk through the Sunrise of Sonning doors. We are so grateful to them and all our dedicated team members for all that they do.”
