‘Outstanding’ Rating Accolade For Kingston’s Amy Woodgate Residential Care Home

Amy_Woodgate_Dian_and_resident_Oct15Amy Woodgate residential care facility has been recognised as ‘outstanding’ for its service-led approach and a rating of ‘good’ overall, after a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

The home, run by Your Healthcare, is commissioned by Royal Borough of Kingston Adult and Public Health to provide residential care and support for up to 44 people living with dementia. The service prides itself on providing expert day and residential care in a home-from-home, warm friendly environment.

This has seen the introduction of a vintage/retro 1950s shop, a “reminiscence” room and beach hut for all residents to enjoy. The innovative idea to create the shop was previously commended for the ‘Mayor’s Award’. The NHS Health inspection body, CQC undertook an unannounced inspection on 27 and 29 October 2015.

Councillor Cathy Roberts, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Adult Social Care and Health said:

‘We congratulate Your Healthcare on the great achievement of being recognised as ‘outstanding’ for being service led and ‘good’ overall by the CQC inspection.  Amy Woodgate is an excellent example of partnership working across Health and Adult Services in Kingston. The home was originally managed by Kingston Council and was transferred to Your Healthcare under the Kingston at Home joint contracting arrangements.

Excellent relationships across partners and staff who maintain their commitment to true person centred care have resulted in positive outcomes for residents and their families and carers.  We look forward to continuing our work with Amy Woodgate, developing and improving services further for the growing number of people with dementia in our community.’

Diane Chalmers, Head of Transformation, Your Healthcare, said:

‘We are extremely proud of the team. Achieving ‘outstanding’ helps us to continue to enhance and develop the service and work to receiving this in every category in future inspections.’

Dian Sampson, Manager, Amy Woodgate said:

‘We’re delighted to see our care rated as ‘outstanding’ and good overall.  It’s a real testimony to our staff who works tirelessly to maintain our warm and personal home from home’ and expert care approach.”
