Mum And Son Reunited In Liverpool Care Home

A mother and son from Wavertree have been reunited and are now living together once again, at a HC-One care home.

Due to care and support needs, Tom Keating, 80, moved into Huyton based Moss View care home in 2016. Just over a year later Ada, aged 98, moved into the same home to help look after her eldest child.

Tom and Ada share a special relationship as Tom never married and has always lived with his mother. Ada wanted to continue looking after son, despite her increasing age, and made the decision to move into Moss View to be with him.

Ada commented: “You never stop being a mum!”

The eldest of four siblings, Tom was a painter and decorator at Liverpool building services HE Simm, then located on Prescot Road.

The caring nature of Ada extended to her profession of auxiliary nurse at the former Mill Road Hospital, which was a victim to the WW2 bombings.

HC-One Care Home Manager, Philip Daniels, commented: “It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs.

“It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.”
