Local MP Presents Award At Newark Care Home

Robert Jenrick, MP for Newark, today presented Bowbridge Court care home in Newark with the LNT Spirit Award.  The award has been given to the home by Ideal Carehomes’ mother company, LNT Group (“LNT”), in recognition of the fantastic team work the staff have demonstrated in making a real difference to the lives of residents at Bowbridge Court.

Ideal Carehomes opened Bowbridge Court as a residential and dementia care home three years ago and has been run by Home Manager Samantha Kavanagh since March 2015.  Whilst the LNT Spirit Award is usually given to an individual employee within the group, the LNT Board of Directors wanted to give special recognition to the full staff team at Bowbridge Court for their efforts.  Alongside the award, staff at the home were presented with a gift voucher by Robert Jenrick MP to thank them for their achievement.  

Mr Jenrick joined the residents, staff and friends’ celebration of the award with a war-time singer, magician, buffet and some bubbly.  During his tour of the 54 bed state-of-the-art care home, Mr Jenrick was impressed with the high quality care and varied activities on offer to the residents.  He was delighted to leave his mark at the home by adding his painted hand print and signature to the wall of Bowbridge Court’s dedicated activity room.

Mr Jenrick remarked on his visit: “It was great to visit Bowbridge Court and meet with the staff and residents.  The home provides a valuable service to the local community so it was an absolute pleasure for me to present the staff with the LNT Spirit Award”.

Bowbridge Court faced some difficulties last year but Samantha and the team have gone beyond simply turning things around, making the home an outstanding place to live. Through a varied programme of activities, highly nutritious food and inspirational spaces, the home provides residents with person-centred care, creating aspirational lifestyle choices.

Home Manager, Samantha Kavanagh, said “We are all thrilled to have been awarded the LNT Spirit Award.  The teams’ efforts and dedication to their residents is second to none and it is great to see everyone rewarded for their hard work.  The staff at Bowbridge Court make a real difference to the lives of our residents so it is well-deserved by all“.

Bowbridge Court also used the party to celebrate their third birthday with a wonderful cake and everyone at the event singing ‘Happy Birthday’.
