It’s Time To Embrace Digital Technology Says CQC Chief Inspector

CQC-logo‘How to achieve outstanding care: The role of digitalisation’, which sought to share best practice from Denmark on utilising digital technologies in the care home environment, and addressed how UK care providers can achieve a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating.

During discussions, Ms Sutcliffe also commented on the potential of digital integration between the care sector and the NHS noting, “there are huge benefits if we can seamlessly share medical information between health and care professionals, which will improve care outcomes for individuals and may help to reduce their length of stay in hospital.”

Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England, added that he was, “disappointed many of the Sustainability and Transformation Plans being produced completely ignore how transformational digital integration between health and care environments could be in improving care outcomes for older people.”

The roundtable was organised by Sekoia, a Danish technology company, and gave UK care providers the opportunity to learn from the Danish Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Claus Grube, about how the Danish care sector, and how care delivery has been transformed following the Danish Government’s decision to digitalise all government services. Including in health and care.

Sekoia provides a suite of digital tools which are used in all of Denmark’s Municipal run care homes. Sekoia’s applications cover all aspects of care delivery, from care plans and incident logs, to fluid and medicine charts. Having recently launched in the UK, Sekoia are developing further applications with their UK partners, with the whole platform designed to streamline the administration burden on staff and free up their time to be spent with residents.

Mads Fischer Rasmussen, Chief Executive of Sekoia, said:

“We were delighted to bring together figures from across the care sector for a vital discussion on the transformational role digital technologies can play in delivering outstanding quality care.

“We know many UK providers are keen to utilise technology in their services, but ned support to develop tailored digital solutions. As Sekoia launches in the UK, we look forward to helping providers benefit from our unique, proven digital applications so they can empower their workforce and enhance care delivery for the benefit of the people they support.
