International Nurses Day Marked At Encore Care Homes

InternationalTo mark International Nurses Day, Encore Care Homes celebrated the hard work, commitment and dedication its nursing staff provides across its three care homes in Dorset and Hampshire.

Encore manages Fairmile Grange on the grounds of Christchurch Hospital, Great Oaks in Bournemouth and Hamble Heights in Fareham. Across all three sites, each nurse was presented with a goodie bag, containing a bottle of prosecco and a box of chocolates. The day was also celebrated with hot drinks and a selection of snacks and sweet treats.

Fairmile Grange’s management team invited the community nurses from Christchurch Hospital to join in with the celebrations at the care home. At Great Oaks, various activities were organised for the carers and residents to enjoy, including crosswords and quizzes, all of which were themed around the nurses. There was also an opportunity for the nurses to plant some forget-me-not seeds in the gardens of the care home.

Rachel Dryden, chief executive officer of Encore, said: “It was lovely to honour all of our hard- working nurses, who provide such fantastic care around the clock. The commitment and devotion they show to our residents is exceptional and truly appreciated.

“Celebrating days like this gives us an immense sense of satisfaction and we were so pleased to be able to give something back to them and show how much they are valued.”

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every year to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s legacy and the contributions made by nurses to the health and wellbeing of those they care for.
