Hallmark Scoop Eight Awards At Wales Care Awards

Hallmark-Scoop-Eight-Awards-At-Wales-Care-AwardsCare provider Hallmark Care Homes were big winners at the Wales Care Awards winning eight awards overall.

The Wales Care Awards, held at Cardiff City Hall, aim to reward the champions of the care sector and to raise public awareness of the vital contribution made by the social care workforce to the health and wellbeing of the older people of Wales.

The popular awards, now in their 12th year, proved a particularly pleasing night for chefs Gareth Mathews and Claire Wilkins who were joint winners of the ‘Catering in Care’ Award. It was the second award in a month for Claire who was recently named as Hallmark’s ‘Care Cook of the Year’, while Gareth was thrilled to be named winner after making it to the final in 2005. “It was an amazing feeling” explains Gareth. “Making it to the finals in 2005 was a massive achievement but it feels great to be named a winner. I love what I do – I’m given the freedom to experiment with menus, which really helps in making sure we meet the changing needs of our residents.”

There were also awards for ‘Promoting Fulfilled Lives’, ‘Exceptional Newcomer’, ‘Nurse of the Year’, ‘Social Care Health & Safety’ and ‘Commitment to Quality in Housekeeping & Hospitality’.
