The local authority area data profiles bring together data to give an indication of how different services work together, providing a picture of the health and social care system in each local authority area.
The updated data profiles draw on analysis of CQC data as well as nationally collected and published data collections and include information on the quality, provision and staffing of health and social care services. This spring 2019 update includes new and updated data on areas such as delayed transfers of care, costs of adult social care, and A&E attendances.
The profiles focus on the care pathway for people aged 65 or over living in these areas and were created to help CQC carry out its local system reviews in 2017/18.
The local authority area data profiles will be regularly updated and will be shared with local health and care leaders to help them improve the way different parts of the system work together.
CQC has published profiles for every local authority area in England (with the exception of the City of London and the Isles of Scilly which, due to low numbers, are excluded from most indicators).
On their own, the profiles do not imply a judgement about how well systems perform. It may be important to also look at a wider range of indicators and information held locally.
