Celebrity Chef Rosemary Shrager Will Headline The National Association Of Care Catering Training & Development Forum 2014

Rosemary ShragerThe National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Training & Development Forum 2014 – the only dedicated learning event for care caterers in the UK – will educate, motivate and inspire delegates from the care catering sector from 1-3 October 2014. This must-attend event for all professionals working in, or associated with, care catering will take place at a brand new, central location – the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.

Highlights for 2014 include celebrity chef and supporter of the care sector and the NACC, Rosemary Shrager, who will headline the event as special guest speaker, and the introduction of training modules, accredited and delivered by Westminster Kingsway College, that will afford delegates extra qualifications.

Filled with learning opportunities from start to finish, the forum caters for all staff levels and training needs through a dynamic and beneficial programme featuring expert speakers, culinary demonstrations, interactive and accredited workshops, peer networking, best practice sharing, and supplier exhibition.

Headlining the spectacular line-up of expert speakers is celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager who will present and demonstrate some of the nutritionally-balanced recipes that she and her head chef have specifically developed for the care sector.

Keynote speaker Dr Lisa Wilson, Principal Researcher, International Longevity Centre & NACC Ambassador, will consider how we can move forward in these ever-changing and challenging times within the care catering arena. Further speakers include Dr Tim Bowling, President, BAPEN, who will talk about BAPEN, its activities and ambitions, and the overlap with the NACC, and Joanne Lewis, Head of Policy, Soil Association, who will discuss the Food for Life catering mark in care homes.

Supporting the plenary sessions will be a series of skill-enhancing training modules that will enable delegates to gain extra qualifications, whilst improving their knowledge, confidence and skill set. The modules include: Reminiscence and the experience of food for dementia patients; Chocolate – ‘Favour and Flavanols’; Advanced Sauces – Flavour, Multimodal Perception and its culinary applications of advance sauces; and Texture Modification – aeration, emulsification, and gelation.

The CaterCare exhibition, running alongside the forum, will give delegates the opportunity to explore, experience, sample and test the very latest food, drink, technology, equipment and services appropriate for care establishments, from more than 50 manufacturers and service providers.

An incredibly popular element of the NACC Training & Development Forum, the prestigious NACC Awards will be presented on the evening of 2 October 2014. Excellence, innovation and dedication from the past 12 months and the care sector’s unsung heroes will be recognised and celebrated.

The coveted awards up for grabs include Care Establishment of the Year; Community Meals Marketing; Catering Team of the Year; Catering Manager of the Year; Sustainability Award; Region of the Year; Pam Rhodes Outstanding Achievement Award; and National Chairman’s Award.

Neel Radia, National Chair, NACC, comments: “The NACC Training & Development Forum really has become a fundamental part of the care catering calendar. It is the only opportunity care caterers have to come together and take stock of the sector’s daily challenges and changing demands. The forum enables delegates the valuable time to debate the issues, share ideas and perspectives, learn new skills from our expert speakers, workshops and each other, keep abreast of Government guidelines, and discover the latest innovations open to the sector.

“The NACC is committed to ensuring that all care caterers are fully supported with the most up-to-date information and tools to maintain the very best standards for the elderly and vulnerable in our society. The Training & Development Forum really does offer something for everyone and the diverse line-up of expert speakers will provoke thought and discussion from cooks through to management. We are also thrilled to be working with Westminster Kingsway College to deliver first-class accredited training modules that will develop skills and confidence, and grant extra qualifications.

“A personal highlight for me has to be the NACC Awards and I very much look forward to handing out the deserved gongs to all the winners. Over the past 12 months we have seen some phenomenal examples of professionals in our sector going above and beyond to deliver excellence in service, raise the standards and profile of care catering, and inspire others. Every category is hotly contested, so it’s going to be an exciting evening as the winners are revealed.”
