Care Home Welcomes In Community With Hawaiian Themed Open Day

HawaiiPrince Alfred care home added a splash of the tropics to Wavertree with a Hawaiian-themed party.

Residents, staff and family members alike donned their flower garlands for a celebration of community spirit. The sensory decorations were particularly beneficial to residents living with dementia, who could engage with different colours, textures and scents.

A highlight of the day involved residents, visitors and staff alike enthusiastically taking part in a World Record attempt. Embrace Group, which runs Prince Alfred, teamed up with Oomph! – a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of older adults  –  to challenge members of the Embrace family from across the country to participate in a national synchronised exercise class.

With over 1,074 people having participated in the Oomph! World Record challenge, there were celebrations all round as the previous record of 481 participants was well and truly bested.

Prince Alfred care home is part of Embrace Group, and provides personalised nursing, residential and dementia care for older people.

Cheryl Dobie, Home Manager at Prince Alfred, said:We all had a great time at the Hawaiian party, and it put everyone in the mood for a long and sunny summer!”
