Belong At Home Crewe Becomes Cheshire’s First Home Care Service To Be Rated Outstanding By Care Quality Commission

Specialist care village, Belong Crewe, has become the only provider of home care services in Cheshire and one of only a handful in the UK to be rated as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for its Belong at Home domiciliary care service.

CQC found that Belong at Home Crewe was ‘exceptionally caring’ and that ‘without exception, staff went the extra mile to ensure that people were safe and happy within their lives.’ It commended its emphasis on recruiting staff with shared values and beliefs in order to deliver high quality care and noted that staff were strongly committed to making a difference, speaking passionately and proudly about the people they supported.

Inspectors were also impressed with Belong at Home’s holistic approach to meeting health needs and the way staff encouraged customers to come into the Belong village to take advantage of services there and be part of the local community.

Customers are supported to use facilities including the exercise studio, therapy room and adapted bathrooms. The report acknowledged the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere within the community area, which allows people to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Michelle Bell, General Manager of Belong Crewe, said: “Belong at Home has set out its stall to provide a quality service, and prove that there is an alternative to rushed home-visit appointments that have done so much damage to the reputation of the home care sector.

“Our emphasis is on giving people the respect, time and quality support that they deserve, and we are delighted that Crewe is leading the way in demonstrating the outstanding care that is being provided through this approach.”

Across the country, only 1% of adult social care services have been rated Outstanding over the past year, according to CQC’s ‘State of Care’ report published earlier this month.
