Banbury Care Home to Support One Love Appeal at Open Day

A Banbury care home has pledged funds to support the One Love Manchester Appeal at its community open day event.

Featherton House, on Chapel Square, initially planned to raise money for its residents to enjoy a day out with the hiring of a minibus, but following the recent tragic Manchester terror attack, staff and residents pledged to donate half of its proceeds from the event to the appeal.

The home is hosting its open day on Saturday June 17 at 2pm-4.30pm, with a number of events taking place, including various stalls, raffles and activities for youngsters, as well as refreshments.

Holly Rose, Home Manager at Featherton House, said: “We are always looking at ways to provide residents with more activities and trips out, but we all agreed that it would be fitting to use the open day as an opportunity to support those in need too. The tragic events in Manchester were terrible and hopefully we will be able to raise plenty of money, which will contribute to the families of the victims.

“It is shaping up to be a fantastic event and provides an opportunity for our residents to interact with the wider community, as well as the chance for people to tour our facilities, while taking part in a host of fun activities for an excellent cause.”

Featherton House, on Chapel Square, is currently managed by Healthcare Management Solutions and provides residential care for up to 23 older people.

The home is also currently rated ‘Outstanding’ in ‘Care’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), has an average 10/10 rating on http://www.carehome.co.uk and is the top-rated care home in the area.
