Awards Success For Community Integrated Care
Community Integrated Care was proud to pick up a prestigious award at the Laing Buisson Awards, held at London’s Lancaster Hotel – as well as being shortlisted in two further categories.
Spencers Villa, a supported living service for three young men with autism, picked up the Autism Spectrum Service Award, celebrating their commitment to person-centredness and focus on achieving outcomes for the gentlemen who live there, including college, volunteering and friendships. The team has received wide praise from both health care professionals and families of the people supported there for their continued success.
The Spencers Villa staff team were represented by Chris Robson, Senior Support Worker and James Palmer, Support Worker – who collected the prestigious award from event host, by former Conservative MP Michael Portillo.
The Laing Buisson Awards celebrated the achievements of independent health and care providers by bringing together professionals working across specialist services and the care sector.
Out charity was represented in two further categories on the night. Community Integrated Care’s organisational personalisation programme, The Golden Thread, was shortlisted for the Personalisation Award, which has involved the introduction of person-centred thinking tools and the incredibly successful Peer Reviewer Pilot. This pilot has seen people supported by the charity become employees, who are responsible for assessing the quality of services as experts by experience.
A partnership between Community Integrated Care, NHS Halton CCG & Halton Borough Council to transform a formerly tired and closure-threatened care home into a genuine centre of excellence was also a finalist for the Excellence in Dementia Care Award. This partnership was also showcased at two high-profile international dementia conferences this week, The UK Dementia Congress in Telford and the International Dementia Conference in Birmingham.
In addition to this, Carlingwark House in Dumfries & Galloway was shortlisted for two accolades at the National Dementia Awards, which are endorsed by the Journal of Dementia Care. Mandy Kennedy has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Activity Coordinator for People Living with Dementia’. This recognises her creative approach to activities – including supporting residents to enjoy an eight week art course and arranging IT equipment for residents, so they can enjoy using the internet and connect with family members online.
