Announcing The NCF Rising Stars Of 2019

NCFHelping develop the next generation of leaders in social care, the National Care Forum (NCF) has announced the successful candidates for this year’s NCF Rising Stars Programme.

Launched in 2017, the NCF Rising Stars Programme is an NCF initiative created to develop leadership skills through mentoring and learning opportunities. NCF members are invited to nominate managers and each year 10 are selected to participate in this unique programme.

“We have a strong focus on leadership in our NCF strategy and we recognise the need to invest and develop the skills of the next generation of leaders,” says Vic Rayner Executive Director, National Care Forum. “With the help of our partners, this programme enables those shining lights in NCF member organisations to develop a wide variety of skills, varying from managing staff, learning about recruitment and staff retention to media training and harnessing technology. Plus they are mentored by some inspirational industry leaders.”

Sharing her experience of the 2018 programme, NCF Rising Star participant Sam Stuart from WCS Care says she is forever grateful for the NCF Rising Stars experience and the teams’ hard work to arrange all of the different days. “It has given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people that without the programme I would not have the opportunity. It has developed my knowledge and given me confidence within my role, which has enable me to develop my career,” she says.

Commenting on this year’s applicants, Vic says we were overwhelmed with the response to the call for nominations for the 2019 NCF Rising Stars Programme. “All the nominees put forward were strong contenders for the programme and it was difficult to narrow it down to just 11.”

The successful candidates for the 2019 Rising Stars programme are:

  • Pam Casey, Abbeyfield Society
  • Charlotte Sehmi, Optalis Ltd
  • Rebecca Ogujor, Salvation Army
  • Philip Smith, Pilgrims Friends
  • Adam Roberts, Norsecare
  • Jo Burnell, Guild Care
  • Triinu Org, Friends of the Elderly
  • Sam Pycroft, St Monica Trust
  • Kelly Hartley, The Fremantle Trust
  • Nicolas Kee Mew, Avante Care and Support
  • Faye Upton, Amica Care.

“We wish all these participants well on their NCF Rising Stars journey and we are very much looking forward to helping them develop their leadership skills over the coming months,” says Vic.
