Air Ambulance Lands £700 Cheque From Dorset Care Home

AirBIG-HEARTED residents at a North Dorset care home have raised more than £700 for one of the area’s most popular charities.

Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) landed the cheque for £738.63 thanks to the efforts of Colten Care’s Newstone House in Sturminster Newton.

Pilot Max Hoskins, whose wife Marie, an assistant housekeeper, works at the home, received the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Residents voted for DSAA to be their annual charity in 2016 and held a number of events including raffles, sales of air ambulance diaries and a pyjama day.

Rebekah Goddard, Activity Organiser, said: “Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance is very popular with our residents, not least because Marie is married to one of the pilots.

“They really entered into the spirit of things and have raised a great amount of money for a worthy cause.”

Leanne Colverson, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s Fundraising Coordinator, said the charity was very grateful to Newstone House.

She added: “Our operational costs are over £2 million a year and the approximate cost per flying mission is £2,500 so we hugely appreciate donations such as this. We can’t thank everyone enough.”

This year’s Newstone House charity is Dementia UK.
