Achievement Of A Lifetime’ For Asra House
The inspirational team at a Sanctuary Care home in Leicester are celebrating a well-deserved victory at the national finals of the Great British Care Awards.
Asra House Residential Care Home in Asha Margh has just gone head to head with six other finalists from across the country to win The Care Team Award in the Great British Care Awards, following a surprise nomination by Sanctuary Care.
The awards, hosted by Care England, celebrate and honour the very best in social care.
Following the finals, which took place at Birmingham’s ICC on Friday night, Asra’s home manager Dina Dasani said: “When they announced we had won everyone just jumped up and there was a standing ovation – it was quite a shock and took a while to sink in! It is the achievement of a lifetime!
“When we left the home the residents said not to come back without the award! It is being circulated round the home as I speak so that they can all have a hold of it!”
Asra House provides specialist residential and dementia care for residents, whole-heartedly embracing and celebrating every aspect of their cultural needs and beliefs.
Dina added: “We all work very closely with each other, our residents and their families to ensure that our residents receive the highest standards of care with kindness, and this award is testament to that. We – and most importantly our residents – are incredibly proud.”

The award, which was presented by Jeremy Vine, is for a care team which is able to demonstrate a shared vision, utilising excellent communication skills whilst demonstrating an on-going commitment to the dignity and privacy of those they care for.
