Abbotswood Court Celebrates National Carers Week with Special Café for Carers

Taking place from the 11th to the 17th June 2018, Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness for the UK’s 6.5m carers. It also provides an opportunity to highlight the challenges they face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities across the country. During the week, Abbotswood Court in Romsey is supporting professional carers with a special free to attend ‘Forget Me Not Cafe’ on Wednesday 13th June.

Welcoming professional carers from Romsey and the surrounding area, the Abbotswood Court National Carers Week ‘Forget Me Not Cafe’ will run from 4 pm – 6 pm. It will give carers in the wider region the opportunity to meet like-minded people and community carers over coffee & cake. They will also have the opportunity to chat, receive guidance, take part in activities and share their experiences.

Regular Forget Me Not Cafes for local people and carers take place on the last Friday of every month at Abbotswood Court. They include short talks about healthcare or supporting those who need care. Home to a passionate senior care team, Abbotswood Court also offers complimentary ‘Community Coffee Mornings’ every Thursday so carers have another regular chance to meet like-minded individuals and combat loneliness.

Debbie Holmes, Homes Admissions Advisor at Abbotswood Court, said:

“During National Carers Week we want to highlight the importance of the UK’s six million carers and the vital contributions they make to communities across the country. We are also pleased to support carers in the local community. Professional carers can join us on Wednesday 13th June for an afternoon of activities and support.”
