A Hula Lotta Fun At The Aldbury Summer Fete

Residents and staff at The Aldbury care home in Poole are inviting people to join them for a hula lotta fun at their Hawaiian themed fete.

The Colten Care specialist dementia home in Ringwood Road, will be festooning its award winning gardens with flower garlands, parrots and palm trees for the event on Saturday August 19.

The fun starts at 2pm and as well as stalls and a barbeque there will also be a raffle and musical entertainment.

Colten Companion Sarah Ingram, said: “We are having great fun preparing for this year’s fete, with some of the residents even dressing up in grass skirts.

“We’ve also been trying out our hula dancing skills, which has been hilarious.”

Kim Harding, the new manager of The Aldbury, said: “It’s going to be a lovely family event and I look forward to meeting lots of new faces.

“Everyone is welcome to come along, with all proceeds from the fete going to the home’s chosen charity for 2017, the Durlston cancer ward at Poole Hospital.”

The Aldbury’s award winning garden isn’t the only one in the spotlight in August.

Colten Care is focusing on the many health benefits of time spent outside and will be encouraging residents at all its 20 homes to enjoy a range of special outdoor events and activities.

Colten Care Head Gardener Charles Hubberstey, said: “It’s fantastic to see our beautiful gardens being used in such a fun way. We take great pride in our gardens, and this is how they should be enjoyed – a little bit of regular fresh air can work wonders for us all… whatever the weather!”
